1. Information We Process

Route requests and results

When you plan a trip, we process the text you submit, your starting coordinates, requested destination, desired stops, route preferences, and the resulting places and routes. This information is needed to interpret the request, locate places, calculate routes, return alternatives, prevent abuse, enforce usage limits, and briefly cache duplicate results.

Anonymous identity and service records

Ownway creates an anonymous service identity so it can authenticate route requests and associate usage limits and subscription access with the correct installation. Our backend may store an anonymous user identifier, cryptographic request and network-address hashes, route results, provider-usage counts, request state, error codes, timestamps, and subscription-entitlement records. Ownway does not require your name, email address, or phone number to plan a route.

Location

With your permission, Ownway uses your device location to start a route from where you are. Your starting coordinates are sent to our planning service when you submit a trip request. If you activate Waze Companion, Ownway uses background location and an on-device geofence during the active trip to detect arrival at a stop and prepare the next leg. Ownway does not use background location unless you enable this feature and grant the required permission.

Voice input

If you use voice input, iOS speech-recognition services process microphone audio to produce text. Ownway receives the recognized text in the input field. We do not operate a separate audio-recording service or intentionally retain microphone recordings. If you submit the recognized text, it is processed as a route request as described above. Apple’s processing may vary by device, language, and system settings.

Information stored on your device

Ownway stores trip history, saved routes, Home and Work addresses, voice-input language, onboarding status, active Waze Companion state, local notification state, and the anonymous authentication session on your device. Home and Work addresses are sent to the planning service only when you use them in a trip request.

Purchases and subscriptions

Apple processes purchases and payment information. RevenueCat processes subscription identifiers, receipts or transaction information, entitlement status, product information, and limited device or technical information so Ownway can display offers, verify paid access, restore purchases, and synchronize route allowances. We do not receive your full payment-card number from Apple.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Ownway may schedule local reminders for an eligible subscription trial and may notify you when the next Waze leg is ready. These reminders are generated on your device. Delivery is controlled by iOS and cannot be guaranteed.

Support and website information

If you contact us, we receive the email address, message, attachments, and other information you choose to provide. The Ownway website, including product, editorial, and legal pages, is hosted by Vercel. Vercel may process network and request information needed to host, secure, and deliver the website.

When website measurement is enabled, Vercel Web Analytics records aggregate page views and an app_store_click event containing only the button placement. Data points may include the event time, page URL or route, filtered query parameters, referring page, approximate location derived from the request, browser, operating system, and device type. Vercel Speed Insights records website-performance data such as the route, network speed, browser, device type, operating system, country, Web Vitals, and related attribution. Vercel states that these measurement data points are not tied to an individual visitor or IP address and do not use third-party cookies to reconstruct browsing across websites.

2. How We Use Information

3. Service Providers

We use the following providers to operate Ownway. They process information under their own terms and privacy notices:

If you choose to open a trip in Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze, the selected navigation provider receives the route coordinates and waypoints needed for the handoff. Your use of that app is governed by its own privacy policy and settings.

4. How We Share Information

We disclose information to the providers listed above only as needed to provide, secure, bill for, and support the Service. We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to lawful requests, to enforce our agreements, to investigate misuse, or to protect users, Dvain Solutions, providers, or others. If the Service or our business is transferred, relevant information may be transferred subject to applicable law.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and Ownway does not contain third-party advertising or tracking technologies used to follow you across other companies’ apps or websites.

5. Retention and Deletion

Local information remains on your device until you clear it in Settings, delete Ownway data, or remove the app, subject to operating-system behavior and backups you control. Server-side route and usage records are retained only as reasonably needed to provide caching, usage limits, security, support, accounting, and legal compliance. Provider retention is governed by each provider’s policies and our applicable service settings.

You can use Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete my data to delete Ownway’s server-side route records, entitlement records, and anonymous identity, and to clear trip history and saved places from the device. Records that providers must retain independently for legal, fraud-prevention, accounting, or transaction purposes may remain under their policies. Deleting Ownway data does not cancel an App Store subscription.

6. Your Choices and Rights

7. Legal Bases for Processing

Where the laws of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland, or another jurisdiction require a legal basis, we process information as necessary to provide the Service you request and perform our agreement with you; with your consent for optional device permissions; for our legitimate interests in securing, maintaining, preventing abuse of, and improving the Service where those interests are not overridden by your rights; and to comply with legal obligations.

8. International Processing

We and our providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live, including the United States and countries where our providers operate. Where required, transfers are supported by legally recognized safeguards.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted network transport, authenticated requests, restricted backend access, and hashed network identifiers used for abuse prevention. No transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

Ownway is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required by local law, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information so we can take appropriate action.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service or applicable law changes. We will post the revised policy here and change the effective date. Where required, we will provide additional notice.

12. Contact

For privacy questions or requests, contact Dvain Solutions at dvainsolutions@gmail.com. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
